Proposition development and stakeholder engagement

Cause

Building on its heritage in ocean campaigning, new philanthropic investors and key stakeholders in Common Seas wanted to sharpen the social enterprise’s core focus. Working with the leadership team, C&E helped to refine the organisation's positioning towards tackling the plastic pollution crisis by driving policy, circular economy investment, and catalysing a cultural shift in how the world makes, uses, and disposes of plastic. The engagement included working with the team to plan and facilitate a foundational engagement process involving leading research scientists, doctors, campaigners, and others to explore increased evidence and awareness of the impacts of plastics to human health.

Effect

Common Seas is now widely recognised and respected as a significant funder of scientific research and programming, and a change agent and convener driving government policy and investment in the circular economy, while shifting cultural norms around plastic pollution.
