Connecting the fragments...

NSPCC creates a truly integrated corporate engagement strategy.

Overview
The UK's leading children's charity, NSPCC works with children, young people and their families and influences legislation, policy and practice in its bid to end cruelty to children. With an ambition to “mobilize everyone to take action to end child cruelty”, the society was clear that it needed to fully engage across all sectors in order to fulfill its mission.

Challenge
The NSPCC invited C&E to advise on "how to make a quantum leap in relationships and income with the corporate sector”. In particular, NSPCC wanted to enhance existing and secure new strategic, integrated, long-term partnerships capable of delivering significant value (in cash and other terms) to the society. We analyzed the external environment, shared insights and establishing trends.

However, much of the emphasis of our work was on connecting the pieces internally. In our view, it was critical to get the whole of the organization to fully understand the extensive potential available through effective partnerships with companies. We therefore worked not only with the corporate partnerships team, but co-created the new strategy with their colleagues from children’s services, policy, marketing and brand, finance, HR, etc. through a series of workshops.

Solution
We ensured that the organization truly understood the multi-dimensional nature of the corporate opportunity – as well as the charity's role in securing value from, and delivering value to key partners. We engaged leaders across the organization, as well as the society’s board of senior external volunteers.

The result of our work together was an inspiring and sustainable corporate engagement strategy which has strong cross-organizational buy-in and commitment. We worked with the NSPCC to identify key prospective corporate partners as well as market-led concepts to inspire engagement.

Even in these challenging economic times, early indications from the NSPCC show that using the strategy creation process as an opportunity to connect the fragments, is building sustainable success.
